Pumpfest 2009

ODAC's main 1st event of 2009 is Pumpfest, which is an annual bouldering competition for the 11th year running. Its one of the 4 main bouldering league of singapore. This time round it takes place at Velocity.

Event time means busy time... The event will only be held from the 15th may till 17th may, but we started working on it a few months ago. As business manager, we have to source for sponsors and negotiate with them.

On the 14th may, Andy drove us all around Singapore to collect the sponsor items. It took us the whole day to collect the items and we had to rush to collect everything by the sponsors end work at 6pm. Although it was just collecting items, we were all shagged out, maybe becos most of the time we were sitting at the back of the lorry under the sun. But it was reallie good to see the items we collected, cos the lorry was reallie packed with the items.

14th may is oso my birthday, i cant believe i've spent my birthday like this. haha~~ no matter wat, i m reallie very happie that the Biz Mag actually remembers and celebrated it with mi. Thanx for the deuter pouch, although i already have one, but i still like it alot. =) I cut birthday cake with jason, whose birthday is juz a day b4 mine.

Goodie bags packing was chaos. It was good to see so many people helping up to pack the goodie bags. I was in charge of distributing the items to the packers. I think we should not rush, and should have packed the bags items by items. Some packers packed fast and some were slow. The fast packers will then came to us and asked for new items, while the slower ones were still packing the previous items. Because of this, we had a hard time, we had to keep asking whether thay have packed this items, whether they packed that items. I think this part reallie dragged and slow down our time. But im still happie that we finished packing quite fast.

The actual event was a very good one, i stayed throughout the 3 daes. I got to see many people participating, from young to old, from male to female, noobies to experts. Not very often will i get to see professionals climbing, i felt so excited watching them. Although it rained, but it din stop the enthu climbers from coming, and there was quite a crowd of spectators watching the competition.

Biz mag's task was mainly mending the Sunplay and Deepheat booths, taking care of the printing of photos. If you're lucky enough, and if there's insufficient manpower, you may need to help out at the wall.

I totally understand how Pumpfest committees feel and i can see their hard work. Well done PUMPFEST!!! =D
